Rebellion 101



re·bel·lion (rĭ-běl'yən)
n.
  1. An act or a show of defiance toward an authority or established convention.
[Middle English, from Old French, from Latin rebelliō, rebelliōn-, from rebellāre, to rebel; see rebel.]

Types of rebellions:
  • nonviolent resistance or civil disobedience
  • resistance movement led by freedom fighters against occupying foreign powers
  • uprising by militants
  • revolting is a localized rebellion
  • mutiny led by mutineers, the revolt of military or security forces against commanders
  • subversion by subversives or foreign spies and is a non-overt attempt as sabotaging a government
  • revolution carried out by revolutionaries toward a change in government; successful rebellion
The picture above is an example. Attica Rebellion in New York, where from September 9-13th hundreds of inmates organized a massive prison takeover to highlight the callous repression and murders by the state of New York.
